MASTERS SWIMMING is an international, age group swimming program for adults.
"UNITED STATES MASTERS SWIMMING (USMS) is an organization of sportswomen and sportsmen founded in
1970 and dedicated to the premise that the lives of participants will be enhanced through aquatic physical
conditioning. USMS supports and encourages competition among its members and those of other nations."
(excerpted from the USMS PREAMBLE) USMS coordinates and governs Masters Swimming in the United States.
USMS is governed and run by USMS-registered members. In the United States, adults aged 19 and over are
eligible to be members of and to participate in United States Masters Swimming. USMS has divided the United
States into geographical associations or regions each of which is governed by a "Local Masters Swimming
Committee" (LMSC). LMSCs are grouped together into one of eight geographically defined "zones" within the
United States. The "SOUTHWEST ZONE" of USMS is composed of the LMSCs from San Diego-Imperial (SI LMSC),
Southern Pacific (the LMSC north of SI), Arizona, and New Mexico.
SAN DIEGO-IMPERIAL LOCAL MASTERS SWIMMING COMMITTEE
