UNITED STATES MASTERS SWIMMING (USMS) coordinates and governs Masters swimming in the United States. Adults aged 18 and over are eligible to become members of, and to participate in, USMS. USMS is divided into 8 geographical "zones," with each zone being further divided into smaller regions, each of which is governed by a "Local Masters Swimming Committee" (LMSC). The San Diego-Imperial (SI) LMSC governs San Diego and Imperial Counties, and comprises the Southwest Zone along with the Southern Pacific (SP, north of SI), Arizona (AZ), and New Mexico (NM) LMSCs. The SI LMSC registers swimmers and clubs and sanctions events within its jurisdiction.
